Recommitments and Changes I’m Making In My Leadership - Pt. 2

Psalm 78:72 – Integrity of heart and skill of hand.

Moses made several changes due to demand on his leadership.

I am recommitting myself to these aspects of leadership as we walk together thru 2021.

Review:

  • Moses recommitted to prayer. Exodus 18:19

  • He re-committed to communicate – verse 20

  • He laid out a vision – verse 20

  • He developed a plan – verse 20

The Law of Process

Leadership develops daily, not in a day

“Like the horizons for breadth and the ocean for depth, the understanding of a good leader is broad and deep.”    - Proverbs 25:3

We overestimate the event and overestimate the process

To get from the point at which God calls us to the point to which He wants us demands the process.

100% of the preparation to get to the end game is in the process

1.    75% of ministers that start in the 20’s don’t make it to age 65

2.    The event encourages decisions and the process encourages development

3.    The event motivates people and the process matures people

4.    The event is a calendar issue and the process is a culture issue

5.    The event challenges people, the process changes people

6.    The event is easy and the process is difficult

Leadership is many faceted:        Why does it take so long to be a good leader

  1. Skills

  2. Experience

  3. Maturity

  4. Relationships

  5. Timing

  6. Culture

  7. Training

  8. Attitude

The secret of our success is found in our daily agenda!

Success isn’t big so much as it is necessary every day in small increments.  My life is shaped in the day by day when no one is watching

What can be discovered in our daily agenda?

  1. Priorities

  2. Passions

  3. Abilities

  4. Relationships

  5. Attitude

  6. Personal disciplines

  7. Emotional qualities

  8. Influence level

  9. Vision is evident in your planner

Bret-isms:

  1. Shortcuts never pay off – what you avoid in process you will spend in problem solving. Pay me now or pay me later

    • Please don’t take them

    • Not in marriage, finance, leadership teams

    • It’s funny how there is never enough time to do it right the first time but always enough time to fix it the second

2. Success is determined in the decisions that you make, not the ones that others make for us.

3. Little things matter

  • They are huge things in the process

We have limited energy. We can either create excellence or excuses with our energy

1.    Remember this as you interact with people

2.    There will be either one or the other as you deal with people
